The Butler Gallery project involved the refurbishment, conservation and adaptive reuse of Evan’s Home, a historically significant building in Kilkenny, transforming it into a new contemporary art gallery and public cultural destination.
The development provides climatically controlled exhibition and archive spaces for major temporary exhibitions, alongside new public realm spaces, gardens and visitor facilities.

Lawler Consulting Role
Lawler Consulting were appointed as Mechanical & Electrical Designers and Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) for the refurbishment and conservation works.
Our role encompassed the design and coordination of building services within a protected heritage structure, alongside statutory design-stage health and safety responsibilities.

- Delivered M&E design and PSDP services for a €6 million publicly funded heritage project
- Supported the transformation of a protected historic building into a modern cultural facility
- Designed environmental control systems suitable for gallery and archive conditions
- Delivered building services within strict conservation constraints
