Creating a New Home for a Growing School

Carrigtwohill Community College forms part of a major new education campus developed to meet the growing demand for school places in East Cork.

Lawler Consulting provided Sustainable Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Design for the new 11,102 m² college, developed to accommodate up to 1,000 post-primary students.

The purpose-built school includes a PE hall, three-classroom Special Needs Unit, support teaching spaces, specialist woodwork facilities and extensive ancillary accommodation, creating a modern educational environment designed around the needs of a growing school community.

Engineering Education on a Fast-Track Programme

Delivered through the Department of Education’s Rapid Build Design & Build Schools Programme in coordination with JJ Rhatigan, the project required a highly coordinated approach within a demanding delivery programme.

Lawler Consulting developed the building services design to support the diverse requirements of a large modern secondary school, integrating M&E systems across general teaching spaces, specialist learning environments, the PE hall and Special Needs Unit.

Working within the wider Design & Build team, our focus was on developing practical, coordinated building services solutions capable of supporting efficient construction and reliable long-term operation.

Designed for Learning. Engineered to Perform.

With accommodation for up to 1,000 students, the building services needed to respond to a wide range of spaces and patterns of use while creating comfortable and effective learning environments.

Lawler’s engineering approach focused on integrating efficient building services into the overall design, balancing building performance with the practical requirements of a busy post-primary school.

The result is a modern educational facility designed to support students and staff today while providing the flexibility and performance required for the future.
